• Tangibility

Our senses work together with our minds to develop understanding.

When we learn to ride a bicycle, we don’t just read about it. We get on a bike and ride. We fall down, we get back up, we practice, we get better. We learn by doing.

Learning to work with abstract concepts may feel different than learning practical skills, but the process is the same. Our courses strive to teach both theory and know-how, and give learners the tools to apply them in their own work.

Tangibility is the through line that connects everything we do—from teaching to tools to products. We believe that design becomes real only when it is visible, testable, and manipulable. This means that ideas must move beyond abstraction and become something you can see, touch, and interact with. It is through this process that learning deepens, creativity flourishes, and innovation takes shape.

Our job is to turn invisible design craft into something tangible and lasting. By making the unseen visible, we empower students and creators to engage directly with their work, to experiment, and to iterate with confidence. Tangibility transforms concepts into experiences and intentions into outcomes, grounding every step in reality.

Tangibility is not just a slogan—it is a guiding principle that shapes our decisions and behavior. It reminds us to prioritize clarity, accessibility, and impact in all that we do, ensuring that the work we produce is meaningful, durable, and truly felt.

If our job is to help people learn to apply (and build) abstract concepts and systems in their work, we need to make them as tangible as we can. We might do this by using video to show the process and thinking behind the work, giving learners tools to make changes to our examples, or creating interactive prototypes that learners can play with.

Tangibility is how we bridge the gap between abstract ideas and concrete skills.
